1 What is Copyright?
Copyright is a legal protection that covers original works of authorship—such as notes, summaries, study guides, presentations, and other written or visual materials—once they are created in a fixed form (written, saved, recorded, etc.).
Copyright generally gives the owner the exclusive right to:
- Copy or reproduce the work
- Distribute or sell the work
- Display or perform the work publicly
- Create adaptations/derivatives (translations, modified versions, etc.)
Important:
- “I found it online” does not mean you can upload it.
- “I changed a few words” does not make it yours.
- “For education” does not automatically make it legal.
If you did not create it and you don’t have permission, you should not upload it.
2 Answerins and Copyright: How We Protect Creators
Answerins uses a combination of policy enforcement, manual review, and technical measures to reduce infringement and protect rights holders. These measures can include:
- Removing or restricting access to content that appears infringing
- Limiting visibility of suspicious content
- Requiring additional proof of ownership from Sellers
- Suspending or terminating repeat infringers
- Maintaining transaction and audit logs to support investigations
We aim to keep Answerins a trustworthy marketplace where:
- Buyers receive legitimate study materials
- Sellers build long-term income from original work
- Copyright holders have clear reporting options
3 What You Can Upload (Allowed)
You may upload Learning Materials if you created them or you have written permission to upload and sell them.
Examples of generally allowed content:
- Your own class notes written in your own words
- Your own summary of a chapter or lecture (original writing)
- Your own study guide, flashcards, or mind maps
- Your own solved examples that are not copied from restricted sources
- Your own original diagrams or graphics (or licensed ones)
You can also include small references or citations (see section 5) when done responsibly.
4 What You Cannot Upload (Not Allowed)
To keep the marketplace compliant and safe, the following types of content are not allowed on Answerins (non-exhaustive list):
A) Copyrighted textbook or publisher content (without permission)
- Scanned pages from textbooks
- Instructor manuals, solution manuals, test banks, publisher slides
- Paid course packs or copyrighted PDFs
- E-book copies, PDFs, or chapters copied verbatim
B) Exams, answer keys, and academic misconduct content
- Leaked exams, quizzes, or protected assessments
- Current/real test questions from active courses
- Answer keys obtained without permission
- Content designed to help users cheat or bypass academic rules
C) Content copied from other websites or platforms
- “Re-uploading” someone else’s notes
- Content scraped from public or paid websites
- Reposting content from classmates without permission
D) Trademarks and impersonation
- Misleading claims like “official university material” if you are not authorized
- Using logos/trademarks in a way that implies endorsement
If you’re unsure whether something is allowed, do not upload it —contact Support@answerins.com.
5 Citations, Quotes, and Use of Images (Best Practices)
A) Citations
If you reference a source (book, article, lecture slides, website), you should:
- Use your own words for the main content
- Add a clear citation (Title, author, edition, year, link if applicable)
- Avoid copying large blocks of text
B) Quotations
Short quotations may be acceptable in some contexts, but:
- Keep quotes minimal and clearly marked
- Do not upload pages of copied text
- Do not substitute quotes for original writing
C) Images, Charts, and Figures
Only use images you:
- Created yourself, or
- Have permission/license to use, or
- Are legally available under a license (e.g., properly attributed public domain / Creative Commons where allowed)
Do not copy figures directly from textbooks or paid resources.
6 Copyright Checklist for Sellers (Before You Upload)
Before uploading, confirm all the following:
